Norristown Monthly Meeting was established in 1936 by Abington Quarterly Meeting (Hicksite) out of Norristown Preparative Meeting at the dissolution of the first Gwynedd Monthly Meeting (Hicksite). It became a united meeting in 1953 by affiliation with the two Abington Quarterly Meetings. Norristown is currently an active monthly meeting. An indulged meeting at Norristown was established by Gwynedd Monthly Meeting (Hicksite) in 1852. Norristown Preparative Meeting was established by Abington Quarterly Meeting (Hicksite) in 1860. Its first business sessions were held in 1861. In 1936, the preparative meeting was established as Norristown Monthly Meeting at the dissolution of the first Gwynedd Monthly Meeting (Hicksite).
